Flight of the bumblebee

Today we listened to a song called flight of the bumblebee.  This song was composed by a Russian man named Rimsky Korsakov.  He was born in the year 1844 and sadly passed away in the year 1908 meaning he passed away at the age of 64. We first listened to his song then drew a picture imagining what you thought the song was telling you. I imagined that there was a helicopter that went out of fuel and suddenly crashed into the mountains.

Earths natural resources

Hmmmmmm… do you ever think about the earth's natural resources? I do, today I will tell you all about  natural resources and why they are important. So what are natural resources?  Natural resources are things in nature, they are very important in life. So why are they so important? Natural resources are important because it gives us humans life.

First is air, we need air to breathe. So how does this resource help support life? This resource is one of the most important resource because without air we wouldn't breathe. Next is plants. we need plants to eat. So how does this resource help support life? This is important to because we need plants for oxygen.

OK this is the final one, water. We need water to drink. This resource helps with life because without water we would be dehydrated and tired. Did you know that you can lose water in your body from just breathing? Yes I know it so fascinating.

This is the end of my story. Let me tell you three things before I go, one If we didn't have these kind of resources we wouldn't be able  to survive. Two we all need to look after these resources and three.........TEAMWORK!!!

Trip to Tokoroa

On saturday Me, my Aunty, my cousin and Devontae went on a bus to Tokoroa. It took us a long time to get there because heaps of people were on board with us. When we reached Tokoroa we got some fish and chips to eat when we get home. When we got home I saw my baby cousin, she was really cute. Here are some photos.

Week 5 Term 2

Technology Breif

We are designing a land boat for the purpose of participating for our class competition.
. Room 10 are making boats because our focus for this term is what kind of resources maori had before  pakeha came to New Zealand. We are also learning technology behind  boats like the knots and the navigation methods.  One of the transports maori had was a waka and a canoe because they used new Zealand waters like a road it is used everyday.

                     Our plan
Since we are going to be designing a land boat we needed a plan. Lucky Miss West was One step ahead and made us a brief development. A brief development is  a plan and you write down your ideas. Most people use brief developments when they are going to build something. We had to write our own things we need and what the objects were for.

What is in our plan

In our brief development there should be  three things. First you have to write what and why you are building the object. Second you have two write what it will have and what the things are for example the wheels, the wheels are there to make them move. Third you have to write your wish list ( a wish list is something you would like to have in your land boat)

What happened to Miss West???

         So you want to know what     happened to Miss West right??

Today she has called in sick. But she is not sick. Miss West is sooo sick of us, well maybe not but I think she is with all her friends. I can imagine what they are doing now. They are probably doing heaps of stuff.

Their maybe flying on a plane, meeting celebrities, playing with fidget spinners, there having the best time ever than us all we have to do is work work work work and work.

Smart Shoe

Today my teacher showed us a picture of a shoe. I think it either looks likes a shoe that can help you learn or a shoe that can make you jump high. It looks like the shoe is made out of carbon fibre.

I also think that it looks like a shoe that can help you to run fast just like an athlete. Well mostly it looks like a shoe but I think it has a camera, I think when you press a button it will take a photo and a video.

                    Time for the truth….
This is a shoe that can automatically warm your feet. It tracks how many calories you've burned and how old you are. This keeps track of your day and automatically tightens the shoe the way you like it. This is all controlled with one single app.

Netball game

This is my netball game that I played yesterday (Thursday) . We played St Cuthberts school, unfortunately they lost. the score was 21-2.  

Catch the coin challenge

Today it was not an ordinary day.  As we sat on the mat Miss West told us we were going to play a game called Catch the coin challenge. She didn't have coins so she used counters, she told us to put the counter on our elbow and push it up, she demonstrated it.

Miss west told us it was cold outside but we didn’t care, we went outside got into a circle and started. I could tell I was good at it because I caught the counter first time. You can play Catch the coin challenge with your family or friends ( or your class). This game was fun.

Immersion Assembly

Now that's thinking is our new theme for this term. We are learning about what kind of technology Maori used in the past, compared to  what we use now. Technology can be all kinds of stuff, smartphones, headphones, tablets and all.

Did you know technology does not always have to be electrical?? Yep does not always, Maori used wood to carve waka and use harakeke to weave baskets and all kinds of stuff!! Now that's technology.

I guess that would take a lot of work. We are so lucky that we do not do those kind of things these years, we have metal, aluminum, tech and more because people travel round the world to give us all these things.

Task Description:  Today I did my problem solving week 8. It was a bit hard to do division but I got through it.

Pt England describing a setting

I see fluffy clouds floating in the air and I see a really bright sunshine. I smell the fresh air flowing around the place and I taste the little raindrops falling into my mouth. Pt England is not an ecosanctuary place this means that there are predators in this place. This is a beautiful environment.

Maui and the giant fish voiceover

This is the story of Maui and the giant fish. One day Maui was starving to eat some  food so he grabbed his waka and set sail to find a perfect spot to fish. Soon after he found his spot so he threw out his hook and waited for a while. After a few minutes later he felt the rope pulling him so he pulled and pulled  and up came a giant fish. About 3 thousand years that fish became New Zealand. This story links to the environment because it tells us how new Zealand was made and because if we didn't have enough we would have to share the food out equally.
